A wonderfully odd detour through the Super Famicom RPG library, Maka Maka pairs manga artist Koji Aihara’s character designs with a world of modern-day absurdity and strange fantasy. Turn-based battles and past-life transformations give its eccentric cast a personality far removed from the usual sword-and-sorcery adventure.
Why collectors want this: This is the offbeat side of the 16-bit RPG shelf: surreal character art, bizarre enemies and a reincarnation-driven premise. The Japanese box, manual, inner tray and pictured paperwork make this an evocative physical edition for collectors drawn to the Super Famicom’s less conventional adventures.
